Opening an account

In order to open a bank account at one of the banks in Odense, you need to bring your health insurance card with your CPR number on it, your passport, and your employment contract (optional) with you. Remember to inform the bank if you wish to receive information from the bank in English.

Easy Account (NemKonto)

A NemKonto is an account that the public authorities can use to pay money into. When you open a bank account in Denmark, one of your accounts will automatically become your NemKonto. You can talk to your bank about NemKonto or find more information here.

Dankort

A Dankort is a debit card that is linked to your bank account and that can only be used in Denmark. It is also possible to get a Visa/Dankort that can be used as a credit card when you are travelling internationally. It is not necessary to have a Dankort, but it is used widely throughout Denmark. For more information about acquiring a Dankort, contact your bank.
