Welcome September

In September 2021 the initiative “Welcome September” – a month of welcoming internationals to Denmark – will take place in Denmark. This month, organizations all over the country will open their doors and invite internationals to a number of events.

Welcome to more than 110 events all over Denmark tailored just for you!

 

More than 65 partners – municipalities, state authorities, business organisations, student organisations and associations have joined forces to make YOU feel at home in Denmark. September 1:

  • Guided tour with the Night Watchman by International Community Odense

17:00-18:00, Den Gamle Kro, Overgade 23, 5000 Odense C


Participate in a guided tour in the heart of Odense and get to know the city and its history through the eyes of a local. Sign up.


September 5

  • International Playdate by INMOTION - International Mothers and Fathers in Odense

11:00-13:00, Playground next to Hunderupskolen, Odense C 


INMOTION - International Mothers and Fathers in Odense - invites families and parents to be for an informal meet and greet at a playground. Join us whether you are new to Odense or have been here for a while! While children play or take a nap in the prams, parents can socialise and get to know each other. Join INMOTION group on Facebook to keep in touch with the network of parents and get updates on upcoming activities. Sign up.

 
  • Urban Gardening by GRO Odense Byhaver

14:00-17:00, Gro Odense Byhaver, Sankt Jørgens Engen, 5000 Odense.


Pop by an urban garden and get rooted! You are always welcome to visit the urban garden Åhaven and enjoy a picnic in the wild, lush atmosphere. On Sunday the 5th of September we especially welcome anyone, who is new in town, to drop by for a chat in the garden by the river near town centre. There will also be an excursion to pick apples from a nearby orchard from 15 to 16 o'clock. If you can't join us on September 5, check out the facebook page for Gro Odense Byhaver and find events, public fruit trees and details on how to rent your own pallet bed. There is outdoor free fun for everyone and a good chance to get rooted and make new friends. Vi ses/See you!

 

September 7

  • International Meetup by International Community Odense

Join us for a social meetup and an after-work drink! This is a great opportunity to meet new people and socialize in an informal way. We welcome all internationals as well as Danes. Sign up.

 
  • Open training: Rugby by Rugby Club Odense

17:00-19:30, Nøglens Kvarter 12, 5220 Odense


You’re invited for an Open House at the rugby pitch – youth, men and women. There will be free food and drinks after the training. If you like plenty of fresh air and physical contact, the rugby sport might be for you! 
At RC Odense, we are training outdoor (almost) all year around at the rugby pitch at Holluf Pile School. Youth players, Men's team and women's team all participate in tournaments organized by the Danish Rugby Union, which start from April to late October.

 

September 8

  • "Work in progress" circus performance by Dynamo - Workspace for circus and performing arts

19:00 (doors open 18:00), Dynamo, Finlandkaj 6, 5000 Odense C


The temporary circus Dynamo is hosting an artistic 'work in progress'-show performed by Cie Ks company. Two young artists perform their show, ‘Idylle, fable du quotidien’ (Idyll, an everyday fable), with finesse and irony. The audience will enjoy rhythmic juggling and graceful dances, and have the possibility to give feedback and ask the performers questions afterwards. Participation is free, but booking is recommended. Get to know more.

  • Children's theatre peformance: Hattemågen by Nørregaards Teater

Odense's childrens' theatre Nørregaards Teater invite children from 1,5 years and their parents for play about the naughty seagull Hattemågen. Tickets are free, but you have to book in advance. Call + 45 70 26 18 70 to book a free 'Welcome September Ticket'. Read more about the play.

 

  • Generator Festival by WE CELEBRATE ODENSE

Different venues in Odense C

  • International Family Day by International Family

Come and meet international families from all around the world for a fun day of activities for kids and their parents! Sign up.

 
  • Open training: Self Defense by Fyens Selvforsvars Klub

10:00-13:00, Fyens Selvforsvars Klub, Klokkestøbervej 3, 5230 Odense M


Open training in Funen's self-defense club. Put on your sports wear and come and try self-defense - a mix of Ju-Jitsu, Karate, Judo and Aikido.

September 12

  • Sports Crawl by LALO Let's Go

Join a Sports Crawl on September 12 from 10:00 to 14:00. We will meet at “Byens Ø”: Findlandkaj 6, 5000 Odense. SportsCrawl is a day full of different sports activities around in Odense. We will be biking from place to place. 
We are looking forward to seeing you! Bring your friends or join by yourself and take part in a fun and sporty day and meet new people in the best environments. 

All you need to remember is: 
• Wearing sporty clothes and shoes (after the weather conditions - it all takes place outdoor) 
• Your bike (and helmet!) 

 

September 17

  • Guided tour for students by Erasmus Student Network

12:00-15:00 Odense train station, Østre Stationsvej 27, 5000 Odense C


Join ESN's guided tour for international students and experience Odense city. Volunteers will guide you through the city and show their favorite parts of Odense. The event is free and it is a great way for the students to get to know the city and meet other newly arrived international students.

 

September 19

  • Open training: Tennis by Næsby Tennis Club

14:00-16:00, Søren Eriksens Vej, 5270 Odense N


Visit a tennis club. Næsby Tennis Club opens its doors to internationals eager to explore what ‘foreningsliv’ is all about. An instructor will introduce the club, techniques of the sport and provide you with the equipment to practice. Everyone is welcome, no matter his or her level of play.

 

September 20

  • Open house Language Café by Folkekirkens Tværkulturelle Samarbejde Odense

14:00-16:00, Frue Kirkestræde 14, 5000 Odense C


Come and visit The Danish Church’s Cross-Cultural Network in Odense (FTS). Meet us in the Language Café and hear about our offers: Drink a coffee in our yard and meet our volunteers, who are ready to help with the Danish language. To sign up send an email: fts.odense@gmail.com

 
  • Welcome to visit Tietgen Business College

Tietgen is both a youth and ”Life Long Learning” institution within the mercantile areas. Your are very welcome to come and visit us for an insight into the education system in Denmark in general. Our presentation will also focus on company courses, language learning possibilities as well as shorts courses related to cultural understanding in relation to working in Denmark.

  • Interactive city tour by Expat Escape Games

Explore Odense in a whole new way! Join the 'escape tour' to meet new people and explore the city while learning fun facts and resolving riddles.

 

September 26

  • Repair Café Odense

13:00-16:00, Estlandkaj, 5000 Odense C


Repair Café Odense is a non-profit organization ran by volunteers and we perform and teach repair for free. We have monthly events, last Sunday of the month from 13 to 16. We are a small community and we repair all kinds of things that people bring, from bikes, to kitchen appliances, furniture and clothes. Read more.
